HOW DARE SHE?!?!
2017 ATHE Conference, Planet Hollywood Hotel in Las Vegas
On Saturday, August 5th, 2017, co-sponsored by The Women and Theatre Program and the Theatre History Program, History Matters/Back to the Future sponsored a panel on those daring women playwrights throughout history who were not afraid to shock their audiences. The panel was co-hosted by Professor Laura Lodewyck, North Central College, and Amanda Feldman, Board Memeber, History Matters/Back to the Future. The following papers were presented:
- Expressions of Gender Fluidity in Sor Juana’s Los Empenos de una Casa by Tamara Underiner, Arizona State University
- Epiphany: Hannah Cowley’s A School for Greybeards and the Scandal Inside the Scandal by Melinda Finberg, University of Southern California
- Performing Politics: Elizabeth Robins, Votes for Women, and The Actresses' Franchise League by Megan Stahl, Boston College
- Gertrude Stein and the Introduction of Abstraction by Nicola Tulk, University of Colorado, Boulder
